Fox Brothers have produced woollen and worsted fabric in Wellington, Somerset for nearly 250 years. Officially credited as the original creators of flannel – to this day they produce the finest wool and cashmere cloth available.
At the height of it’s output Fox employed around 5,000 people. The company even had it’s own bank together with a private railway station.
During WW1 the company produced 8,000 miles of khaki cloth along with 70,000 pairs of puttees per week.
Fox continues it’s 250 year tradition as a unique and iconic British textile manufacturer supplying natural wool fabrics to a discerning worldwide customer base.
During our own 213 year history we have picked up a lot of experience of working with the worlds finest fabrics. Fox flannel is exceptional to the touch and cuts like a dream. For our February window display in our Savile Row shop we have two fine examples of bespoke tailoring using cloth from the current Fox Flannel checks collection. Fox flannel makes a stylish and supremely comfortable suit. The cloth used: Mid Grey Longforth check and The George check both from the current Fox Flannel Checks bunch.
