Moscots Eyewear

By | Blog | No Comments

Davies and Son have teamed up with Moscot eyewear, flagging up the beauty of the optician and glasses maker’s bespoke and ready to wear frames. We will be celebrating Moscot’s 102 year anniversary at their 37 Beak Street store in the early evening of Thursday 6 April.  Moscot originates from New York, but now boasts branches around the world. Their focus lies in crafting frames with an individual note, with firm attention on detail, materials and comfort, values that are shared with Davies and Son’s own bespoke philosophy.

Throughout April, Moscot shall offer customers of Davies and Son a 15% discount on all of their frames and services. www.moscot.com

Big Show on Savile Row

By | Blog | No Comments

WWE wrestling legend Paul ‘Big Show’ Wight dropped by at our Savile Row shop last week to be measured up for a bespoke suit. A long time admirer of bespoke tailoring, Big show fulfilled a life long dream with his visit to Davies & Son where he met with head cutter Patrick Murphy and cutter Joe Matthews.  He is of course a giant of a man so making  suit for him will go a long way to prove Alan Bennet’s quote on our home page ‘Its hard to describe our house style as we cut for the individual – we adapt to do our best with whatever shape we have to work with’. The cloth chosen is our own exclusive Navy Super 150 Huddersfield Fine Worsted ( http://www.daviesandson.com/savile-row-shop/march/)

Freddie Fox in ‘Romeo and Juliet’

Jamie Murphy, Freddie Fox and Patrick Murphy after the show last week

Last week Patrick Murphy and his son Jamie were treated to a performance of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at the Garrick Theatre by none other than the star of the show Freddie Fox. Freddie caused quite a storm in London’s theatre-land when he took over the role from Richard Madden, after having very little time to adjust to the role.

Many thanks to Freddie from Patrick and Jamie.

Davies Alpaca 2 Edit

Alpaca Coat

We like to be able to bring you examples of unusual cloth.  Patrick Murphy is cutting an Alpaca overcoat. Although this cloth is best seen ‘in the flesh’ to appreciate it’s qualities, these photos go some way to show it off.  We are excited to see the finished garment.

BTBA Summer Party

By | Blog | No Comments

The BTBA Summer Party at the historic Merchant Taylors Hall in the City of London was the place to be last Friday evening.

Always an excuse for all and sundry to show off their sense of style – this was perhaps best demonstrated by Greg’The Trumpet’ Davis

wearing his new Davies & Son bespoke suit. The man not only knows how to play a mean sax – he also rocks a suit to the max!
